Darker Mickey

€1,400.00

2018 Acrylic on canvas. 73 x 92 cm

Here is the original painting for the poster that features in Prints. In the painting the lettering was done by hand after I had photographed it for printing.

A colossal plastic Mickey Mouse is drowning; he is waving feebly but still has his inane grin. He is indeed in peril in the sea. But equally plastic is the peril in the sea. The second image here goes a little way to explaining why the title is “Darker Mickey”: it shows the original water colour sketch which was way too light…..it also shows, bottom right, an early tag line: 90% of the problem is hidden. This line came from a poster/photograph showing what looked like an icberg with 90% of it hidden underwater; the iceberg on closer inspection turned out to be a plastic bag.

See your possible choice of picture hung in your house.

Take a good photo of the room where you might like to hang the painting and email it to me. Try and keep the vertical lines in the photo as vertical as possible. Send me the measurements of something in the shot (a radiator, a wall or a table top) that I can use to estimate the scale. I will send you back your photo with the picture on the wall. There is no charge for this, and we can try as many variations as you like.
