Darker Mickey
An colossal plastic Mickey Mouse is drowning; he is waving feebly but still has his inane grin. He is indeed in peril in the sea. But equally plastic is the peril in the sea. The third image here goes a little way to explaining why the title is “Darker Mickey”: it shows the original water colour sketch which was way too light….. it also shows, bottom right, an early tag line: 90% of the problem is hidden. This line came from a poster/photograph showing what looked like an icberg with 90% of it hidden underwater; the iceberg on closer inspection turned out to be a plastic bag.
The original image is an Acrylic painting. Here the poster has been printed on a four colour press on heavy 250 gsm paper at A2 size (42 x 59.4 cm). A limited edition of 50 prints was made. The only change from an earlier version is that the amount of plastic dumped in the ocean is increasing and has now reached 12 million tons per year!
The second image shows the poster mounted in a standard Ikea 50 x 70 cm frame using the supplied passe-partout. This trims less than a centimeter all round off the image area of the poster. It would be best practice to have the poster dry mounted at the required size by a framer.
The poster will be sent in an A2 postal tube. Postage and packaging are included in the EU.
